What’s New for 2022
  • Your share of the cost of medical, dental, and vision coverage will reflect negotiated rates.
  • To better meet your needs and your family’s, the CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield PPO and the BlueChoice HMO plans will now include coverage for hearing aids, up to $1,000 per ear every three years with no age limitations.
  • New membership cards will be issued for all of the medical plans for 2022.
  • JHU has added a new Identity Theft Protection program to its voluntary offerings. The Identity Theft Protection program, administered by Allstate, can offer you peace of mind, as well as valuable services that can help you both prevent identity theft and recover your identity if you become a victim.
  • JHU is pleased to announce the addition of voluntary pet insurance through Nationwide. This new voluntary benefit will help you protect your furry family members by managing the rising costs of veterinary care.
  • There are enhancements to the voluntary MetLife Critical Illness insurance benefits, including increased reoccurrence benefits, and an expanded list of covered conditions.
  • Our Flexible Spending Account (FSA) administrator Discovery Benefits is now known as WEX. You can continue to leverage the same online account, mobile app and debit card.
  • The Health Care FSA maximum employee contribution will increase (new contribution limit to be announced by the IRS this Fall).  As a reminder, you must re-enroll in the Health Care FSA and the Dependent Care FSA each year.  If you participate in the Health Care FSA for 2021 and have a remaining balance,  up to $550 (minimum $30) will automatically roll over to your 2022 Health Care FSA.
  • We are making changes to our JHU retirement plans in 2022.  Learn more.
  • Remember to apply (or reapply) for the Child Care Voucher program  for 2022 during Annual Enrollment.  Through this program, you have the opportunity to apply for tax-free assistance to help pay for child care for your prekindergarten children under age 6.  If you meet the eligibility criteria you could be awarded up to $5,000 in voucher funds to use toward the cost of your child care.  You must have your prior year’s tax statement to enroll.  You can also apply for a Child Care Scholarship to be used at one of JHU’s partner centers.
  • As you make your 2022 benefit elections, we invite you to click on the United Way link in the enrollment site to elect your annual pledge. This annual campaign, in longstanding partnership with the United Way of Central Maryland, raises donations for nonprofit organizations working to improve the wellbeing of our neighbors.
