Worklife Workshops

Want to learn ways to better handle stress? Or get help buying a house or planning for retirement? Our Worklife workshops—offered at no cost to university faculty and staff as part of their benefits package—are designed to help you manage the competing demands of work and personal life, and to offer insight into topics of interest.

Our regularly scheduled lunchtime workshops cover subjects such as work-life effectiveness, aging, finances, homeownership, parenting, and well-being. They’re offered on the East Baltimore, Homewood, and Keswick campuses.

Plan for Personal Finances: Plan FOr your Financial  FUTURE    CANCELLED

If you are an early to mid-career employee, we invite you to this workshop in order to reduce your stress and fear around planning for your financial future. CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals will identify and discuss the six components of the financial planning process which include cash flow/budgeting, investment planning, tax planning and more. The process will be brought to life through case studies that may help you easily incorporate these concepts into your financial life. Come with your questions and ready to be empowered. Please note that this is a two and a half hour workshop. Plan to stay for the duration of the program to receive the full breadth of information.

If you are within 10 years of retirement, now is the time to evaluate your retirement plan or to put one in place. CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals will familiarize you with the retirement planning process and educate you on how your investment strategy should evolve as you near and enter retirement. Relationships, community involvement, and housing are a few of the issues that retirees must think about as they enter this major life transition; recent research shows that the process of actively planning for these changes increases satisfaction in retirement years. Join Work, Life and Engagement staff to learn how to develop a vision for your retirement and avoid common pitfalls. This non-financial retirement planning workshop is appropriate for faculty and staff within 10 years of retirement.
