Baby Shower

Pregnancy, childbirth, adoption, and surrogacy are all major life transitions. The Johns Hopkins Baby Shower is an event for new and expectant parents to learn about the services and resources available to them during this time.

Representatives from JHU & JHHS Benefits and Human Resources, as well as Family Program Specialists, will offer brief presentations regarding: employee benefits, leave, child care, and lactation support. In addition, a number of Hopkins programs and local vendors will be available, sharing their resources and expertise. This event is a wonderful opportunity to meet and network with other new and expecting parents.

Baby Shower FAQ’s

Answers to your questions about the Johns Hopkins Baby Shower:

Am I eligible to attend?

All JHU and JHH full- and part-time faculty and staff are eligible to attend the Johns Hopkins Baby Shower free of charge as part of their employee benefits package. Unfortunately, residents, postdocs, and graduate students are not eligible to attend at this time.

Do I have to attend the entire event?

While it is not required for you to attend for the entire time, it is strongly encouraged. The event is composed of key informational presentations from Benefits and Family Programs, as well as an open exhibition with numerous vendors sharing their resources and expertise.

Can I bring a guest?

Guests are welcomed and encouraged to attend. If you would like to bring one, please include your guest’s name on the registration form to ensure we have an accurate count for materials and seating.

I didn’t register to bring a guest. May I bring one anyway?

Yes. We ask that you email to let us know that you have decided to bring a guest to the Baby Shower. Please include your guest’s name in the email.

Can I bring my child?

This is a kid free event. Please email if you need information or assistance in using JHU’s backup care.

What leave options are available to me? How do I add a child to and update my benefits package?

Representatives from Benefits and Human Resources will be presenting information on leave and employee benefits. They will also be available after the presentations, at the exhibition, for further questions and conversation. Read more about leave policies here.

I attended in the past, can I attend again?

You are welcome to attend again; however, a majority of the information will be similar to that at previous baby showers, but we are also trying to add new vendors.

Is parking available? Where can I park?

Yes, parking is available. We ask that you indicate whether or not you will require parking on your registration form to maintain an accurate count of spaces needed. You can self park in the Washington Garage (K2 on the campus map) on the East Baltimore Campus. If you have specific accommodations or questions please contact
