The Tuition Reimbursement Plan for Undergraduate Studies covers part-time undergraduate studies (11 credit hours or less) at an accredited school.
If you are a full-time benefits-eligible faculty or staff member who has been employed by JHU for 120 days or more, and continuing in a full-time position, you are eligible to participate. Faculty and staff members living and working outside of the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area are eligible for a separate plan, the Tuition Reimbursement Plan for Faculty and Staff in Outlying Areas. Retirees, Visiting Faculty and Staff, Residents, Interns and Postdoctoral Fellows, and family members are not eligible for the Tuition Reimbursement Plans.
About the Plan
Reimbursement will be made for 100% of part-time undergraduate tuition costs, up to $2,000 paid per calendar year. This $2,000 limit also counts toward the $5,250 annual Tuition Remission benefit limit, so plan carefully when you are taking advantage of these benefits.
Proof of payment and a grade of “C” or better are required for reimbursement. The Tuition Reimbursement Plan for Undergraduate Studies applies only to courses taken for academic credit at an accredited, degree-granting college or university, outside of Johns Hopkins University. Reimbursement is up to 11 credits. Fees, credit courses taken for audit, pass/fail, non-credit, graduate and JHU courses are not covered by this plan.
Tuition reimbursement payments made to employees who participate in this plan are not taxable.
After you complete the eligible course, fill out and return the Tuition Reimbursement Plan Application Form to the Benefits Service Center along with copies of your itemized tuition and fees, receipt, grade report(s), and supervisor certification. Submit reimbursement requests within 12 months of course completion. Reimbursement requests submitted by the 5th of the month will be paid by the second pay of the month.
The Benefits Service Center will review and approve reimbursement for all eligible costs, and payment will be made directly into your paycheck. You will be notified if your request is not approved.
