In order to best serve the Johns Hopkins community, the Human Resources team has developed five strategic priorities that guide all its work.
Foster an Environment of Diversity and Inclusion
President Daniels’ Roadmap on Diversity and Inclusion established a benchmark against which we continue to strive as we recruit, retain, and develop a more diverse JHU community. And we continue to shape an environment in which all members of our community are respected, supported, and fully able to pursue their aspirations in classrooms, laboratories, offices, and clinics across our campuses.
Support the Well-Being of Faculty and Staff
We are strengthening our offerings for health, wellness, and family support. And we are enhancing training for staff and managers so that they can be better equipped to recruit and develop a diverse workforce. Measurement will be key to evaluating our progress.
Attract, Retain, and Develop the Best People
With campuses on three continents, researchers in every time zone, and students from more than 120 countries, Johns Hopkins truly is a global enterprise. We are leveraging our global brand in two ways. To more efficiently manage our HR programs across the globe, we are looking into a Global HR initiative. To bring the power of the JHU brand to the Baltimore community, we continue to invest in HireLocal, which offers entry-level jobs, career ladders, and support to local job seekers.
Ensure HR’s Business Is Efficient and Compliant
President Daniels’ Ten by Twenty vision calls for (among other things) improving university wide business practices so that they exemplify academic excellence. We will strengthen HR’s budgetary frameworks and technological processes to ensure that lean principles and processes characterize our work. And we will review our policies, practices, and vendor relationships to ensure both efficiency and compliance.
