Employee Resource Groups, commonly referred to as ERGs, allow individuals with shared backgrounds or interests to voluntarily connect and learn from each other. They create an inclusive work environment that encourages the engagement of diverse views and experiences.

At Johns Hopkins University (JHU), each ERGs’ objectives and activities contribute to creating an inclusive work environment with their membership and events open to all JHU faculty and staff to connect and learn from each other, encouraging the engagement of diverse views and experiences. They are led voluntarily by faculty and staff with support from Central Human Resources (HR) and in consultation with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI). See the ERGs you can join below.

Asian Pacific Islander Desi (APID)

Mission:

Create an inclusive environment for faculty and staff at Johns Hopkins University, by engaging in networking events, education, and creating opportunities to give voice and support employees of East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander descent. Membership is open to everyone to network, socialized, and discuss shared interests.

Jewish Faculty & Staff Association (JFSA)

Mission:

Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all JHU employees. Through the lens of Jewish culture and identity, JFSA seeks to provide a forum for networking, learning, and giving voice to Jewish experiences. Membership is open to all staff and faculty of the Johns Hopkins University.

PRISM

Mission:

PRISM stands for Pride, Raising Awareness, Involvement, Support and Mentoring and creates an inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies. Through networking events, education, and collaboration, the group increases awareness of experiences of this community. Membership is open to all staff at faculty of the Johns Hopkins University.

ERGs are supported by HR who can assist with related questions.

The opportunity to form an ERG is available to all JHU faculty and staff, and interested groups will work with HR to identify co-leads, an executive sponsor, and develop a charter for approval.
