Biking is an aerobic exercise that strengthens your heart and can reduce your risk of heart disease; it can help you maintain a healthy weight by burning fat and toning muscles; and biking releases endorphins, which can improve your mood and reduce stress and anxiety.

Bike to Work MD

Participate in the Baltimore Metropolitan Council’s Bike to Work Week festivities:

Bike to Work Week is a nationwide event held each May to encourage and celebrate biking to work (or anywhere!). This week-long initiative promotes awareness of biking as a healthy alternative to driving, highlights the importance of bike lanes and paths, and advocates for bike safety. Throughout Bike to Work Week and beyond, you are invited to Bike There! 
 
Bike to Work Week 2025 will take place from Monday, May 12 through Sunday, May 18 and will feature a variety of local events all week. On Friday, May 16, special Bike to Work Day ride-up pit stops and events will be hosted to make commuting by bike even more fun. Registration is free and opens on Tuesday, April 1 at BikeToWorkMD.com.
