What's New for 2024?

Here’s an overview of the enhancements coming your way in 2024.

We’ve heard your feedback about aspects of JHU’s health insurance plan providers and services. From finding doctors who understand your unique needs to getting answers to claims and billing questions, we’re introducing enhancements to help make finding and getting care easier and less stressful.

Here’s a quick overview of what’s new and changing.

  • New medical plan options that offer:
    • One place to go—a dedicated advocacy service, Quantum Health—for help answering health care questions, big and small
    • A new pharmacy benefits manager that oversees prescription drugs—Capital Rx
    • One medical ID card with information about medical and pharmacy benefits all in one place
    • Combined out-of-pocket maximums (the most you have to pay in a calendar year) for medical, mental health, and prescription drugs
  • New commuter benefits to help you save money getting to and from work
  • Additionally, the IRS may increase how much you can save in the tax-advantaged Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) (we’ll update you when we know more).
Some surgeries and services will now require prior authorization, which Quantum Health will help coordinate.
Actions Needed

Annual enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to elect your benefits for the coming year (unless you experience a qualifying life event, such as getting married or divorced, having a baby, or your spouse or partner switching jobs).

This year, you must enroll if you’d like to select new medical coverage, participate in tax-advantaged accounts or the child care voucher or scholarship programs, or if you wish to add or remove a dependent.
