Carrier Change November 1
Effective November 1, 2024, Lincoln Financial Group will become the new carrier of your Accident and Critical Illness Plans. During the transition, outstanding claims will continue to be serviced by MetLife, so you can continue to submit any claims to MetLife through October 31, 2024. Learn more

Accident insurance can offset expenses such as emergency room fees, deductibles, and co-pays related to injuries suffered in a fall, while playing sports, or following another type of accident. This benefit is offered through Lincoln Financial Group and administered for JHU by Mercer Voluntary Benefits.
Auto & Homeowners
Save money on insurance through the Choice Auto and Homeowner’s Insurance Program, which offers you a competitive quote from a selection of top-rated auto and homeowner’s insurers and provides special discounts for JHU employees. The program is administered for JHU by Mercer Voluntary Benefits.
Critical Illness
Critical illness insurance is available for employees and their eligible spouse, domestic partner, or dependents. The coverage pays out a lump sum in the event of a serious condition such as cancer, heart attack, stroke, or Alzheimer’s disease, among other conditions. It is offered through Lincoln Financial Group and administered for JHU by Mercer Voluntary Benefits.
New for 2025: Hospital Indemnity Insurance
Hospital indemnity insurance is available for employees and their eligible spouse, domestic partner, or dependents. The coverage pays out a lump sum if you or a covered dependent need to stay in a hospital due to an injury, sickness, or childbirth. You can choose between a Low Plan and a High Plan. It is offered through Lincoln Financial Group and administered for JHU by Mercer Voluntary Benefits.
Identity Protection
The Identity Protection program by Allstate can offer you peace of mind, as well as valuable services that can help you both prevent identity theft and recover your identity if you become a victim. The program is administered for JHU by Mercer Voluntary Benefits.
Legal Services Plan
For a small monthly fee, full-time employees can take part in the MetLife Legal Plan, which gives access to a nationwide network of more than 12,000 attorneys for help with legal matters—from will preparation, to debt collection, to buying a home, and much more.
